Euroglobe 2.0

We believe that “green films” matter! It’s time for more European engagement and a platform to give European “green film-makers” a voice to stand up. Therefore we are proud to work with the best partners in order to present you an innovative and exciting film festival program in Namur!

The EuroGlobe film festival in Namur consists of two parts. GREEN HORIZONS Part 1 (27th August) is a feature film evening in cooperation with our partner FIFF, the International Festival of the French-speaking Film. This evening’s film program deals with the subject of water shortage, which is a direct consequence of global warming. First, we show an animated short cut and then continue with a full-length feature film. Both projections will eventually give rise to an exciting debate in the screening room in the presence of invited guests.

For GREEN HORIZONS Part 2 (28th August), a short cuts program, the Festival Nature Namur and the short film festival Média 10-10 are our exclusive partners. Together with them and international film rental agencies, we have selected the best films to be shown during the EuroGlobe 2.0 festival in Namur. The public will see a mixture of short films of varied styles. In order to culminate in a true European spirit, we will also present three German films from the German International Film Festival (Berlinale).

Drama's Pond

Daniel Auclair

The water over the earth, the sky over the water and as if it did’nt seem like it, the fire to light the floods. At the beginning the four elements are in step with each other and everything flows. As the days go by, the fire inexorably imposes its rules. This documentary is a breathtaking parable on global warming experienced by the inhabitants of a pond.

Paradise Later

Ascan Breuer

Germany/Austria 2010

“The blink of an eye. Images emerge from dazzling white and disappear again, as if the eyes must first adjust to the light. While the camera follows a slow-moving river on the edge of a tropical metropolis an off-screen voice reads a sales rep’s report to a company’s board of directors. As the narration progresses it becomes increasingly laden with self-doubt and accusations. ‘The conquest of the earth … is not a pretty thing when you look into it too much.’ (Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness, 1899)” (Gerald Weber).
