The EuroGlobe Festival consists of a two-hours short film program showing local and international short films concerning climate change and environmental issues.

Our partner for this activity is the Fundación Audivisual de Andalucía who took care of the short film selection.

A five-year old boy lives with his parents in a shack, which his family is obliged to vacate to make way for the construction of a large block of flats. The boy discovers a watering can left behind when the last neighbours moved out. Several metres from the shack, on a large piece of waste ground, he finds an old dry apple tree with just one branch in flower. The boy decides to start watering the tree, hoping to bring it back to life.

At the rocks and caves of Tifariti, vital location in the Sahara desert, prehistoric paintings come alive in front of our eyes, in order to tell us a story of ten thousand years ago: a civilization living on a fertile valley where now only desert exits. A magic tale dealing with the cultural heritage of a people without state, and reflecting our own view and experience of progress and civilization.

Life in the sea is disappearing from our shores... and not only underwater.

Piles of useless empty boxes await collection outside computer stores, fashion boutiques, perfumeries and accessories shops. Now there is nothing inside them, now that they are simply discarded items, they are free to dream. And that is just what they do... dream, dream and dream.

The region of Andalusia has its own unique geological identity. Its various ecosystems, mountain ranges, coasts, forests and wetlands form its vital organs. In this documentary the natural ecosystems are described from the points of view of the men and women who live and work in natural settings, of the people who seek in nature an escape from the more civilised world, and of children who discover nature. Together they form a chorus of voices that provides the viewer with an insight into the main natural beauty spots of Andalusia.

'The Prince of Garbage' is the story of a boy who lives in a parallel world, his own world, where everything is ruin and rubble. Amidst the decay and garbage, he makes out a light cutting through a dark, contaminated sky. His quest brings him into contact with the lowest, cruellest and wickedest creatures he could ever have imagined: men. And they will not give up until they finish him off.

While the camera floats over a peaceful river side a voice reads a sales rep’s
report. While the reading continues the report starts to become enriched with
self-doubt and accusations.

The discovery of the German forest in a poetic and mystic way.

Maryann De Leo and Christophe Bisson accompany Maxim Surkow on his return to his hometown Prijipat, Ucraine, which is situated three kilometres from Chernobyl.
Three days after the catastrophe in April 1986 Maxim, his family and 48.000 inhabitants were evacuated to Kiev. They had to leave everything behind. With his return Maxim does not only discover his old home but also his chilchood
that he lost.
