EUROGLOBE THEATREEurope onstage

William Shakespeare’s idea: “To be connected with the whole world” means a totally different method of working and thinking for theatre producers.

Such an open approach towards theatre and the art of acting was already employed by Shakespeare, but it became forgotten when Shakespeare’s theatre disappeared in 1642. Only after the Globe Theatre London was reconstructed in the late 90s was Shakespeare’s philosophy of acting revived and experienced once again. If we want to understand and reflect on life in today’s Europe, we have to be open to more recent methods of acting and thinking.

On the specially constructed stage in the EuroGlobe, the renowned German theatre company SHAKEPEARE und PARTNER performed and provided insights into Shakespeare’s world. Furthermore, the actors elaborated on the question, why and how Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre are connected to our discussions about Europe.
